Yves Tumor

Witness Yves Tumor, a true auteur, perform plush, visceral art rock live.

Experimental producer turned avant-rock star Yves Tumor is restless in the best way. On their solo debut they crafted their sound from disembodied Kylie samples, club beats, free jazz and rain-smudged ambience. Then they signed to Warp and started adding swaggering indie anthems to their suite of beat experiments. By 2020 they were releasing psych-damaged funk on Heaven To a Tortured Mind. And last year they built walls of Smashing Pumpkins-esque distortion that rose and fell among trip-hop and house-style excursions.

All of it manages to meld chaos and restraint with soulful clarity. It’s music that dares to visit a dissonant purple place where Prince and Kevin Shields might conceivably go jam. Here with a full band, off the back of a global tour playing with the likes of Nine Inch Nails and Florence + The Machine.

Support from self-produced Tokyo pop artists and cult fashion star, Aya Gloomy.

The art-rock auteur’s latest album is a glistening, richly detailed world that feels like a culmination of their ever-escalating talent and ambition.
