ACCESSIBILTY

WHEELCHAIR AND MOBILITY ACCESS

Wheelchair access is via the front entrance on Southbank Boulevard. Southbank Theatre has lifts to all levels. The foyers within Southbank Theatre offer tables and chairs at wheelchair height and has a low bar service area.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING

There are multiple designated kerbside disability parking spaces on Dodds Street between Southbank Boulevard and Grant Street more information about accessible parking within the City of Melbourne can be found on their website

HEARING ASSISTANCE

Hearing assistance can be provided for all productions in the form of a closed system Listen Pack at Southbank Theatre. There is no extra charge for this service, simply ask theatre staff for assistance when you arrive.

Headsets will be available to loan from the cloakroom, located next to the box office. Headsets will be sanitised after each use and provided to you in a sealed packet.

GETTING TO THE LAWLER

TRAM

For routes travelling up and down St Kilda Rd (numbers 1, 3, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67, 72) you can get off at the Arts Precinct stop and walk to Southbank Theatre (5 min walk). Route 1 (to South Melbourne Beach) goes down Southbank Blvd, and stops on Sturt St just outside Melbourne Recital Centre, located next door to Southbank Theatre

TRAIN

Southbank Theatre is easy distance of Flinders Street Station. After Exiting the station simply walk south down St Kilda Road (away from the CBD), or catch a south-bound tram from the Slinders Street Station/Federation Square tram stop.

ARRIVING BY CAR

Southbank Theatre is located at 140 Southbank Boulevard, Southbank VIC 3006

Nearby carparks include; Arts Centre Melbourne car park and the Australian Ballet Centre carpark

MELBOURNE ARTS PRECINCT TRANSFORMATION

To help facilitate the delivery of the $1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation, the remaining section of Sturt Street between Kavanagh Street and Southbank Boulevard will be closed from 9 March 2023.

Can I still park at Arts Centre Melbourne and The Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre car parks from 9 March?

Yes, you can. Access to the car parks via Kavanagh Street will be maintained throughout the life of the project and beyond.
